Swimming Competes at FordhamNiebrugge, Merwin and Vanasse named Outstanding Performers As a Freshman (2011-2012): Overall Melissa scored 226 points for the Eagles, completing the season with 14 first places finishes... Merwin was selected to represent the Eagle's at the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship where she swam the 200 yard individual medley (2:14.49), 100 yard breaststroke (1:07.91), and 200 yard breaststroke (2:25.39)...she was a recipient of the ACC Scholar-Athlete award and was a member of the Boston College Dean's List for the spring semester. BEFORE BC: Graduated with high honors from Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden, Connecticut. Lettered all four years and earned All-State in 2007 and 2010. She is the 2010 CIAC Class S girls 100 breaststroke and 200 medley relay champion. She was the recipient of the Rookie of the Year Award in 2007 and was awarded team MVP in 2010. She holds the school records in the 200 medley relay, 100 breaststroke, and 200 individual medley. She is an All-SCC Scholar Athlete and competed at YMCA Nationals all four years. PERSONAL: Melissa is from North Haven, Connecticut. She is the daughter of Paul and Marianne Merwin. Sister to Kathleen (22) who graduated from the UCONN School of Nursing and Michele (16) who is a junior at Sacred Heart Academy. Melissa swam club on the Cheshire YMCA Sea Dogs. She is a student of the College of Arts and Sciences and is interested in pursuing Dental School. Best Times at Boston College |
