Softball Announces Two Signees

Dec. 7, 2000

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Head softball coach Jen Finley has announced that two student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to play softball at Boston College beginning in the fall of 2001. Lisa Field and Michelle Daly will enroll in Boston College in September of 2001 and begin their first seasons of play in the spring of 2002.

Field, a catcher from Encinitas, Calif, was a member of the 2000 CIF champion team in Div. I. Her La Costa Canyon High School team was ranked 43rd in the country last season and 11th in the state of California. During the 2000 season, her junior campaign, she batted .493 and was named Defensive Player of the Year. She also received all-county and all-Avocado League first team honors. In her sophomore season, she was a second-team all-league choice. She is a two-time scholar-athlete at La Costa Canyon. Field's ASA team earned a fourth-place finish at the national tournament.

Daly, a pitcher and outfielder from Carlisle, Mass., is a three-year starter on the Concord-Carlisle softball team. She has been named team Most Valuable Player and league MVP in her career. Several regional papers have named her to their all-star teams, including the Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Middlesex News and Lowell Sun. She was also selected to play in the Dual County League all-star game. Her ASA team has competed in the national tournament in each of the past four years and her NSA team placed eight nationally in both 1998 and 1999.

"We are very excited to have these two student-athletes decide to join our program," Finley said. "They will made solid contributions and we look forward to their arrival on campus next fall."
