Hanover, N.H. - Sophomore Taylor Peyton tallied her second homerun of the season in style, hitting a grand slam in the fifth inning to help lift the Boston College softball team (25-26, 3-12 ACC) over Dartmouth (11-23, 7-9 Ivy) by a score of 7-3 at Sachem Field Wednesday afternoon.

Peyton drove in five RBIs on two hits overall, giving her 23 RBIs this season. As a team, the Eagles had eight hits on the day from five different players. Recording multiple hit games were sophomores Dani Weir and Amy Tunstall, who collected two hits each. Weir now has 31 hits on the season while Tunstall has 37.

Dartmouth took the initial lead, scoring one run on two hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Freshman pitcher Allison Gage got her 40th appearance of the season for the Eagles and her 26th start. In six complete innings of work, she faced 25 batters, giving up three runs on four hits while striking out four.

BC scored its first four runs in the top of the fifth inning on Peyton's grand slam. Sophomore Blair Destito singled in the first at-bat. Freshman Carolyn Jones then reached on a fielder's choice and Destito advanced. With one out, Tunstall walked, loading the bases. Peyton then knocked the ball out to left field, scoring Destito, Jones and pinch runner Allie Thunstrom for a 4-1 BC advantage.

Three more runs came across for the Eagles in the top of the sixth inning. Weir singled to start off. Senior Carley McNary then reached first base on a Dartmouth throwing error and Weir advanced to second. Destito walked next to load the bases. With still no outs, freshman Alison Kooistra, pinch hitting for Jones, singled for her first collegiate RBI. Senior Amanda Booth was then hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Weir scored the second run. Two outs later, Peyton hit a single up the middle for her second hit of the game, scoring Kooistra.

The Big Green scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a double by Audrey Kolodziej, but the Eagles solidified the lead and took home their 25th win of the season.

The team will travel to Kingston, R.I. tomorrow for a doubleheader match-up with Rhode Island. The first game will begin at 3 p.m. at the URI Softball Complex.
