Shaw, Weed Named Eagles of the Week

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore Chris Shaw (baseball) and freshman Jordan Weed (softball) have been named Eagles of the Week.

Shaw led the Eagles as they went 4-1 on the week with a .556 batting average, five RBIs, 15 total bases and an .833 slugging percentage. His .571 batting clip, five RBIs and 13 total bases led both BC and NC State and his .929 slugging percentage was second in the series. His eight total bases in Saturday's win over the Wolfpack were the most on the season for the Eagles. Shaw leads BC in batting (.301), doubles (13), RBIs (22) and slugging percentage (.425). He was named the ACC Player of the Week on Monday.

Weed had a strong week to help Boston College go 3-2 with a series win at NC State. The freshman led the team in batting (.471), on-base percentage (.471) and slugging percentage (1.000). She went 8-for-17 with two runs, six RBIs, three doubles and two homeruns. Weed also pitched in three games and went 1-1. She pitched 11 innings and struck out seven, including six in the 6-2 win over NC State on April 18.

Baseball (14-26, 5-16 ACC) plays St. John's on Wednesday and then hosts Maryland this weekend for a three-game series. Softball (25-19, 9-11 ACC) hosts North Carolina on Wednesday for a doubleheader and then Virginia this weekend for a three-game set.
