Feb. 26, 2013

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College sophomore shortstop CJ Chirichigno earned Player of the Week honors in an announcement made by the ACC on Tuesday.  North Carolina pitcher Lori Spingola earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the 10th time in her career.

Chirichigno, the native of Costa Mesa, Calif., was 8-for-14 with five RBIs, three runs, two doubles, and four stolen bases as the Eagles’ exited the Frost Classic with a 3-2 record to start the season.  On Sunday, Chirichigno went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two doubles, and two stolen bases in BC’s 13-4 win over Toledo.

The weekly honors were a first for Chirichigno and the first time an Eagle has received the accolade since Tory Speer on May 10, 2011.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday with a doubleheader against Longwood and Syracuse as they participate in the ESPN Citrus Classic.
