College Park, MD - The Boston College softball team lost to second-seeded Notre Dame, 3-0, in the first round of the ACC Softball Championship at the Maryland Softball Stadium in College Park, Maryland on Thursday afternoon. The Eagles are 30-23 on the season, while Notre Dame is 38-10.

Freshman Jordan Weed pitched well as she had a one-hitter through five innings. Her final line was six innings, four hits, three runs as she gave up a three-run home run in the sixth to Micaela Arizmendi.

BC's offense was stifled all night by Laura Winter. She gave up two hits and struck out nine batters.

In the start of the sixth inning, Weed gave up a single to left to Karley Wester. She got the next batter to hit it to short and the Eagles cut down the lead runner. Jenna Simon stole second, but Speer threw to second and BC caught Simon between second and third.

Weed then gave up a double to Katey Haus. Arizmendi stepped up to the plate with two on. She proceeded to rip the ball over the right field fence for a Notre Dame, 3-0, lead. The next batter popped up to second to end the inning but the damage was done, the Irish led, 3-0.

Speer led off in the seventh and grounded out to shortstop for the first out. Alana DiMaso grounded out to short for the second out. Weed went after the first pitch and flew out to left field to end the game.

Game Notes:
The Eagles 30-win season was the first since 2008 ... The 12 ACC wins was the most by the program since joining the conference ... Senior Nicole D'Argento did not play due to suffering a season-ending injury last weekend at Notre Dame.
