Softball Splits With Connecticut

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-Junior Mary Dietz(San Manuel, AZ) picked up her fifth straight victory in BCs 3-1 win in game one in BIG EAST action Wednesday afternoon.

In the bottom of the third Dietz drove in the winning runs on a two-out single knocking in juniors Chris Vicari(Totowa, NJ) and Cristin Brown(Playa Del Rey, CA) .

The right-hander pitched her 11th complete game giving up one run on two hits, striking out six.

Over her five game unbeaten streak, Dietz has a .90 ERA allowing three runs on 16 hits in 30 innings, striking out 48. She has thrown four complete games with one shutout.The Eagles have given her over eight runs a game in Dietz's five game-winnig streak.

In game two Connecticut smacked 10 hits off of Eagle pitching; scoring two runs in each the third and seventh inning to give them their ninth BIG EAST victory, 4-0 over BC.

Junior Gretchen Thompson(Brea,CA) started for the Eagles lasting two and two third innings. Thompson gave up two runs on five hits, before freshman Brooke Shull(San Diego, CA) came on in relief.

Junior Julie Ulbrich(Leonia, NJ) led BC at the plate with a pair of hits.
