Softball Completes the Sweep Against Virginia

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Freshman Tatiana Cortez hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning to lead Boston College past Virginia, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at Shea Field. The Eagles completed the three-game sweep with the win, after defeating UVA twice on Saturday. BC is now 28-19 on the season and 12-11 in the ACC. UVA dropped to 8-43 overall and 1-25 in the conference.
Senior Nicole D'Argento earned her 17th win of the season as she struck out four and gave up three hits. D'Argento did not walk a batter all day. Cortez had the key hit in the sixth as she now has 10th home run on the season. Cortez has a team-high 44 RBI's after today's game.
Down 1-0 after one inning, BC tied the game when Tory Speer walked and reached second on a fielder's choice. Speer than took third and home on two throwing errors by Virginia. Jordan Weed advanced to third on the throws and Taylor Coroneos walked. With two on and two out, Cortez ripped a home run over the left center field fence to give BC the 4-1 lead.
D'Argento closed the game out when she got the first UVA hitter to ground out to Cortez. She struck out the second batter and got the final UVA hitter swinging.
