Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Freshman Tatiana Cortez hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning to lead Boston College past Virginia, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at Shea Field. The Eagles completed the three-game sweep with the win, after defeating UVA twice on Saturday. BC is now 28-19 on the season and 12-11 in the ACC. UVA dropped to 8-43 overall and 1-25 in the conference.

Senior Nicole D'Argento earned her 17th win of the season as she struck out four and gave up three hits. D'Argento did not walk a batter all day. Cortez had the key hit in the sixth as she now has 10th home run on the season. Cortez has a team-high 44 RBI's after today's game.

Both teams had only three hits on the day. Besides Cortez, Jessie Daulton and Taylor Coroneos each had a hit.

Down 1-0 after one inning, BC tied the game when Tory Speer walked and reached second on a fielder's choice. Speer than took third and home on two throwing errors by Virginia. Jordan Weed advanced to third on the throws and Taylor Coroneos walked. With two on and two out, Cortez ripped a home run over the left center field fence to give BC the 4-1 lead.

D'Argento closed the game out when she got the first UVA hitter to ground out to Cortez. She struck out the second batter and got the final UVA hitter swinging.

Game Notes:
The BC program honored the senior class - Tory Speer, Nicole D'Argento, Nicole Koszowski, Alana Dimaso and Megan Scanlon ... Tory Speer became the all-time leader in home runs at Boston College when she hit two on Saturday. She now has 39 homeruns and a new program record of 136 RBI's ... Boston College has won 28 games, the most games won since the 2008 season ... Nicole D'Argento picked up her 17th win of the season. It marks the most wins in a single season for D'Argento. Her previous high was 10 as a junior. Today's game was her 38th appearance, matching her career-high set last season ... D'Argento has set a new personal high of 31 starts as a pitcher this season ... Boston College will next play at Providence on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Eagles will host UConn on Wednesday, April 30 at 4 p.m. before heading out to Notre Dame for the final three-game ACC series next weekend ... The ACC Tournament will begin on May 8 at College Park, Maryland.
