Softball Shuts Out Boston University, 3-0

Boston College freshman pitcher Jordan Weed hurled a one-hitter as the Eagles defeated Boston University, 3-0, at the BU Softball Field on Thursday afternoon. Boston College is now 20-16 on the season while the Terriers are now 19-16.

The Eagles rookie went seven innings, gave up one hit and struck out three as she improved to 7-6 this season.

Boston College had six hits as senior Alana Dimaso led the attack with two hits and one run. Senior Nicole D'Argento had two RBIs while Jessie Daulton had one hit and one RBI.

BC went up 1-0 when D'Argento walked with bases loaded to score Annie Sommers in the second inning. The Eagles went up, 2-0, in the third inning when DiMaso singled and advanced to third on an error. Daulton singled to center and knocked in DiMaso. The Eagles third run was scored on a sacrifice bunt by D'Argento which scored Sommers in the fourth inning.

With a, 3-0, Weed retired the next 12 batters, six on ground balls to the infield.

The Eagles are 2-0 this week with Weed picking up both wins on the mound. BC has won five of the last six games.

Boston College will host ACC foe Maryland this weekend in a three-game series. The first two games will be played on Saturday, April 12 at Shea Field. The first game will begin at 1 p.m. while the second game is projected to start at 3 p.m. The final game of the series will be played on Sunday, April 13 at 1 p.m.
