After defeating Longwood earlier in the day, Boston College lost to Syracuse, 10-0, in six innings at the ESPN Citrus Classic in Kissimmee, Fla., on Friday night.
Sophomore Andrea Filler (2-2) picked up the loss for the Eagles (4-3, 0-0 ACC) allowing three earned runs over 1.1 innings. Stacy Kuwik (4-2) earned the win for the Orange (5-6, 0-0 ACC) tossing a four-hit complete game.
Freshman Megan Cooley and juniors Tory Speer, Alana Dimaso, and Nicole Koszowski each had a hit for BC.
Sophomore Chelsea Dimon allowed two earned runs over 3.2 innings of relief, and freshman Stephanie Lord gave up three earned in the top of the sixth.
Corrinne Ozanne posted six runs batted in for the Orange.
In the top of the first, after the Orange loaded the bases, Ozanne knocked in two runs on a single to give Syracuse an early 2-0 lead. The Orange doubled its margin in the top of the second as Veronica Grant and Ozanne each singled in runs.
Syracuse scored two more runs in the top of the fourth off a throwing error and a sacrifice fly to increase its edge to 6-0. The Orange totaled four runs in the top of the sixth as Ozanne hit a three-run homer after an RBI double from Jasmine Watson.
The Eagles could not answer in the bottom of the sixth to extend the game.
Boston College continues play at the ESPN Citrus Classic tomorrow in a doubleheader against No. 10/12 Oregon (10 a.m.) and Notre Dame (2:30 p.m., ESPN3).
