CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The BC softball team got over the .500 mark on Sunday morning after their 13-4 defeat over Toledo in five innings in the finale of the Frost Classic.
Chelsea Dimon (2-1) pitched three innings, allowing only one earned run and three hits to record her second win in as many days. Maria Pandolfo (2), Tory Speer (3), and Andrea Filler (1) all went deep on Sunday as the Eagles totaled eight homers over the weekend.
CJ Chirichigno led the Eagles with a .571 average over five games while Speer hit .421 and slugged a whopping 1.000 for BC.
BC jumped all over Toledo early and often, scoring eight runs in the first inning. Megan Cooley and Chirichigno led off the game with singles before Pandolfo’s three-run homer staked the Eagles to a quick 3-0 lead. Speer doubled and then scored on Chelsea Dimon’s single before Cooley’s two-run base hit and Chirichgno’s two-run double concluded the scoring in the first.
The Rockets cut the deficit to 8-4 with a run in the second and three in the fourth but BC got their insurance runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Dimon walked before Filler’s first homer of the season scored two more runs for the Eagles in the fourth. In the fifth, Chirichigno’s second double brought home Cooley before Speer’s third homer of the tournament concluded the scoring as the game ended 13-4 in five innings.
BC will be back in action next Friday at the ESPN Citrus Classic in a doubleheader against Longwood and Syracuse.
