2011 SEASON
ACC Academic Team...started 42 of 44 games on the year...set career-highs in batting average (.238), runs (19), hits (31), home runs (5), runs batted in (26) and on-base percentage (.296)...recorded nine multi-hit games, including four with four RBI...against Providence (4/28) went 3-for-4, hitting a home run, driving in four runs and scoring three of her own...batted 2-for-3 versus Dartmouth (4/27), hitting the home run that broke the Eagles' single season record, plating four runs and scoring another...hit a walk-off homer against NC State (4/3), going 2-for-7 with four RBI and a run scored...at Virginia Tech (3/26), batted 2-for-3 with a double and home run and totaled four RBI and a run...on two hits in four at-bats at Nevada, brought in two runs...went 2-for-3, scoring a run at Stetson (2/11)...received the Athletics Director's Award for Academic Achievement...ACC Academic Honor Roll...All-ACC Academic Team.

2010 SEASON
Played in 38 games, starting in 12 of them...finished the season hitting .129 with eight hits and three RBI...also recorded two doubles and three walks for the year...went 2-for-3 against Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the season opener on February 18...received the Athletics Director's Award for Academic Achievement.

2009 SEASON
Played in 41 games, started in 23, primarily as a designated player...hit .181 with a career high 15 hits and 11 RBIs, to go along with four runs scored...totaled three doubles as well as eight walks...made no errors in 43 chances at first base and in the outfield...went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored against Providence on April 7th.

2008 SEASON
Played in 28 games, started in 15...emerged as the team's leading designated player by the end of the season...hit .212 with 11 hits, six runs scored and eight RBIs...earned ACC Player of the Week accolades on May 5th for her offensive performance against Maryland...went 4-7 in the three-game series, tallying four RBIs and two home runs...had her first collegiate hit against Western Carolina at FGCU's Spring Break Invitational...knocked in the first RBIs of her career against Holy Cross on March 26th.

BEFORE BC
Served as team captain under Coach Don Hyatt...named high school team overall MVP in 2007, offense MVP in 2005...selected to AAF/All-CIF-Southern Section team in 2006 & 2007...member of county's All-Star team her senior year...All Tri-Valley League Honors three consecutive years.

PERSONAL
Gemma Ypparila, born on October 6, 1989...enrolled as an English and pre-med double major in the College of Arts & Sciences...is the only child of Ken and Gail Ypparila.
