Chestnut Hill, Mass. -
The Boston College women's soccer team had three players - Stephanie McCaffrey, Casey Morrison and McKenzie Meehan - named to the 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women's All-Southeast Region team this week. The three players were keys as the Eagles won three games in the NCAA Tournament to advance to the Elite Eight for the second time in four seasons.
McCaffrey, a junior, earned second team honors. The Eagles forward was second on the team in scoring with a career-high 12 goals, nine assists for 33 points. A native of Winchester, Mass., McCaffrey tied a program record for most points in a single game with eight (2 goals, 4 assists) in the win over Hofstra. McCaffrey also recorded two hat tricks - vs. Duke and CCSU. She earned All-ACC first team honors this past season.
Morrison, a junior, earned third team honors. A native of York, Pa., Morrison has been the Eagles mainstay on defense since the day she arrived as a freshman. She played and started every game this season and posted one goal and three assists for five points. Morrison, an All-ACC third team member, has started 65 of all 66 games she has played in over three seasons.
Meehan, a sophomore, was also named to the third team. A native of Smithfield, RI, Meehan was an All-ACC second team selection this past season. She led the Eagles in scoring with 20 goals and one assists for 41 points. The 20 goals set a new single season goal scoring record. She now has 29 goals, which is seventh on the all-time scoring list at BC. Meehan led the team and ACC in game-winning goals with nine.
