Women's Soccer Hosts Hofstra in NCAA Tournament

BC READY FOR CHALLENGE

• Boston College women's soccer team will host Hofstra in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. Tickets for the game will be available at the Newton Soccer Field prior to the game.

• The winner of tonight's game will advance to the next round to play the winner of top-seeded Penn St. and LIU Brooklyn.

• The most recent RPI for BC - 23.

• Boston College has earned 16 NCAA Tournament berths in the history of the women's program. Head coach Alison Foley has led BC to 12 NCAA Tournaments, 10 consecutive.

• The Eagles have advanced to one College Cup (2010), two Elite Eights (2010, 2009) and eight Sweet 16's (2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2006, 2005, 2004, 1999).

• BC's first NCAA appearance was in 1982. Current assistant coach Mike LaVigne was the head coach and he led BC into the NCAA Tournament in 1982 and 1983. LaVigne's team lost in 1982 to Cortland State but in 1983, the Eagles defeated Princeton 2-0 before bowing out of the tournament in a 2-0 loss to UConn.

EAGLE NOTES
Kristen Mewis was named to the All-ACC first team for the second consecutive season. She is the first BC player to be named to the All-ACC four straight seasons.

Stephanie McCaffrey earned All-ACC second team honors, while McKenzie Meehan was named to the All-ACC Freshman team.

Kristen Mewis is 10th in the country in scoring with 1.95 points per game (37 total points). She is fifth in the country in assists (11).

• The Eagles are third in the ACC in points scored (132, 6.60 avg.) behind Duke (163 points) and UVA (149 points). BC is third in goals scored (47), sixth in assists (38) and third in corner kicks with 118.

• Boston College is ninth in the league in goals allowed (34), while FSU leads the league with only 11 goals allowed). BC is sixth in save percentage (3.10).

• BC is third in the league in shots with 335, while Duke has 375 shots and UVA has taken 363 shots.

• The Eagles are third in the ACC in points scored (132, 6.60 avg.) behind Duke (163 points) and UVA (149 points). BC is third in goals scored (47), sixth in assists (38) and third in corner kicks with 118.

• The Kristen Mewis-Victoria DiMartino combination is the highest scoring duo in BC's history. Combined the two seniors have compiled 70 goals, 61 assists for 201 points. The closest scoring duo to Mewis and DiMartino is Morgan Page `01 and Meghan Moore '01 who combined for 63 goals, 43 assists and 169 points.
