Women's Soccer Training Session
The Boston College women's soccer team opened up the 2011 season and the hopes to return to the College Cup with preseason practice on Saturday, August 6.
The Eagles opened the first day with equipment distribution, team meeting and the annual team BBQ. On Sunday, August 7, the team began training. The Eagles had two practice sessions and some fitness tests.
Boston College returns eight starters from the 2010 College Cup team including goalkeeper and team co-captain Jillian Mastroianni and defender and co-captain Alyssa Pember. Other key returning players include seniors Julia Bouchelle, Alaina Beyar, and Stephanie Wirth. The Eagles top two scorers - Kristie Mewis and Victoria DiMartino - are also back for the third season.
The Eagles will host UConn in a scrimmage on Sunday, August 14 at 1 p.m. at the Newton Soccer Field. The 2011 season will begin on Friday August 19 as BC will host cross-town rival Boston University at 4 p.m. The team will have one day to recover as the Eagles host Fairfield on Sunday, August 21 at 1 p.m. There is free admission to all regular season games.
