2012 Women's Soccer Schedule Chestnut Hill, MA
- The Boston College women's soccer team has announced the 2012 schedule. The Eagles are set to play 19 games, eight on their home field, the Newton Soccer Field on the Newton Campus.
Of the 19 teams Boston College will play this season, 12 made the NCAA Tournament in 2011 and nine were ranked in the NSCAA Final Top 25 poll, while six were ranked in the Top 10.
The Eagles open up the 2012 season against former Big East foe Providence at the Newton Soccer Field on Friday, August 17 at 7 p.m. BC will then go on a four game road trip, with the first match at Connecticut on Friday, August 24 at 7 p.m. The Eagles will play at cross-town rival Boston University on Sunday, August 26. The two teams have played eight times in the last six years and BC leads the series, 7-1. BC lead the overall series against BU, 13-4.
A two-game west coast road trip will challenge BC as the Eagles take on reigning national champion Stanford on Friday, August 31 at 4 p.m. (ET). Fans can view this game on the Pac-12 Network. The second game on the west coast is against Pacific on Sunday, September 2 at 3 p.m. (ET).
Northeastern, Central Florida and the first ACC game vs. Clemson will give BC three straight home games. The Eagles will host the Huskies on Wed. September 5, followed by a Sunday afternoon match against Central Florida. The ACC opener vs. Clemson is on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
BC will then hit the road for three more games and this time start the trip right down the road at Harvard on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. The Eagles take off to play at Wake Forest on Thursday, Sept. 20 and then at Virginia Tech on Sunday, Sept. 23. Both Wake Forest and Virginia Tech made the NCAA Tourney last year.
A home match against Pepperdine, another NCAA Tournament team, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 29. It will be played at a neutral site due to a conflict with events on the Boston College campus.
A two-game swing through North Carolina will test the Eagles as they will play at North Carolina on Thursday, Oct. 4 and then ride down the road to play at Duke on Sunday, Oct. 7. The last time the Eagles were at Fetzer Field to play UNC, they earned an exciting 3-2 victory on a goal by Victoria DiMartino.
Any die hard soccer fans looking to watch competitive matches will be treated to four straight ACC games in October. BC will host Maryland on Thursday, Oct. 11, NC State on Sunday, October 14, Florida State on October 18 and the final home match against Miami on Sunday, October 21.
The Eagles will finish out the season against Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia on Thursday, October 25.
The ACC Tournament quarterfinals this year will be scheduled Sunday, October 28 with the top four seeds hosting games against seeds 5-8. The four remaining teams will advance to WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. for the ACC semifinals on November 2 and the championship match on November 4.
The 2012 NCAA Women's College Cup will be hosted by the University of San Diego at Torero Stadium, on November 30 and December 2.
Boston College is coming another successful season as the team advanced to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament. BC Head Coach Alison Foley, who is entering her 16th season, led the Eagles to its ninth straight NCAA Tournament last season.
