Women's Soccer Welcomes Five Incoming Players

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College head women's soccer coach Alison Foley announced the five members of the Class of 2013 this afternoon. The players to join the BC women's soccer program are Hayley Dowd from Peabody, Mass., Meg MacDonald from Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Andrea O'Brien from Concord, Mass. and Ashleigh Ward from Christchurch, New Zealand.

The fifth player in the Class of 2013 is Rosie DiMartino, of Massapequa Park, New York. She follows her two sisters who starred at the Heights - current senior Victoria DiMartino, who was a third round selection by the New York Flash in the new women's professional soccer league and sister Gina, who graduated from the Heights in 2009 and was on the roster for the former pro team, Philadelphia Independence, in 2010-12.

The new Eagles will join a team that has advanced to the NCAA Tournament 10 straight years. Under coach Foley, BC has earned 11 trips to the NCAA Tournament, seven trips to the Sweet 16, two Elite Eight appearances and one College Cup.

Meg MacDonald - Defender - PDA Slammers - Glen Ridge, N.J.

Played at Glen Ridge High and helped lead the team to the 2012 New Jersey State Championship ... four year starter and first team All-Conference and All-County ... team captain and the 2012 MVP ... played for PDA Slammers from 2009-13 ... 2012 Nike-ID2 "The Chance" National Team ... 2011-2012 ECNL Player Development Program pool ... Andrea O'Brien - Forward - Scorpion Soccer Club - Concord, Mass.

A four-time starter for coach Nancy Slocum at Concord-Carlisle High School ... helped C-C win three straight Dual County League Small School Championships ... three-time Mass. A native of Nelson, New Zealand ... Starting left back for the 2012 Under-20 New Zealand National Team which competed in the World Cup in Japan ... Has earned six caps with the U-20 team and three caps with the U-17 team ... ... Played for the U-20 National team in May 2012 in the US ... Joined the U-20's team in Sept. 2011 ... Member of the New Zealand Under-17 team in 2010 ... Plays for the Mainland Pride National League Squad ... Competed for the team in the 2009-10 national league ... Mainland Women's Player of the Year in 2011, Defender of the Year in 2011, Youth Player of the Year in 2009 . Plays club soccer for the Greenfield Rovers ...
