BC Women's Soccer Blanks Central Connecticut
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - In just the second game this fall, Boston College earned their first win and shutout of the young season. The Eagles women's soccer team downed Central Connecticut State University this afternoon 3-0 in regulation at Shea Field. Boston College evens their record at 1-1, while CCSU drops to 1-2 and 0-1 in neutral play this season.
Freshman goalkeeper Courtney Schaeffer recorded her first shutout in only her second start of her young career. She put in a five-save effort while gaurding the Eagles net. Central Connecticut goalie Sarah Reginio stopped three shots while letting three slip by.
Scoring the first goal of the season and game for the BC women was freshman Rachael Klemanski. While in front of a crowded Central Connecticut net, Klemanski took her own rebound off the cross bar and put it past Reginio at the 12:53 mark of the match.
During the second half the Eagles found the back of the net twice. At 54:03, Mary Guarino took freshman Muffin Rueckel's pass and scored from the right side of the goal. Then to put the game out of reach, captain Anne Schneider scored from the left corner.
Boston College's next game will be at home on Shea Field against BIG EAST rival Georgetown on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 1:00 p.m.
