BC Women's Soccer Ties #13 Harvard
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Boston College Women's Soccer team tied nationally
ranked #13 Harvard University 1-1 today at home on Shea Field. With the tie the Eagles
record moves to 3-2-1 on the season, while the Crimson drop 4-1-1.
Boston College struck first at 00:39 of first half. Mary Guarino '00 scored her third
goal of the season from the right side of the net, heading in a pass from junior Kiera McKeon.
BC then held Harvard scoreless until 52:22 of the second half when junior Naomi Miller
set up Linsay Minkus '98 from 10 feet out, for the game tying goal.
BC freshman goalie Courtney Schaeffer was peppered all day long by the strong Harvard
attack, but held her own making 18 saves and witnessing a total of 30 Crimson shot attempts.
Harvard goalie Jen Burney '99 made six saves after the early goal, for a strong recovery.
Boston College's next two games will be on the road again BIG EAST opponents St. John's and
Syracuse University. The Eagles' square off against the Red Storm on Friday, September 26 at
7:30 p.m. They then travel to Syracuse for a 1 p.m. start time on sunday, September 28. Harvard
will play at Ivy League rival Yale on Saturday, September 27 (noon).
