BC Women's Soccer Finishes off Brown in Season Finale
CHESTNUT HILL, Ma. -- Boston College women's soccer team defeated Brown University today 1-0 at home, on Shea Field to close out the season on a positive note and finish three games above .500 with a record of 9-6-2 (5-6-0 in the BIG EAST). The loss drops Brown to a 5-9-0 record with three games remaining.
The two teams played to a scoreless first half until sophomore Janice Collein (Garden City, NY) opened up the scoring in the second half at 59:54 with her second goal of the season and eventual game winner. Collein took a rebound off Brown goalie Elise Roy (Annandale, VA), in front of a crowded net, and beat her right to left.
BC was led by solid performances from senior co-captains Alex Chamberlain (Worthington, OH) and Anne Schneider (Denver, CO), juniors Kiera McKeon (Broadview Heights, OH) and Megan Burns (Oxford, MI), sophomores Collein, Kristine Klagges (Huntington, NY), Brandy Manza (Tacoma, WA), and freshmen Sarah Powell (Natick, MA), Rachel Klemanski (Farmington, CT), Katy Murphy (South Windsor, CT), Muffin Rueckel (Westport, CT), Jillian Livolsi (Northport, NY), and goalie Courtney Schaeffer (South Huntington, NY) who recorded her seventh shutout of her young collegian career with a five save effort.
