Boston College Drops 1-0 Decision to Villanova
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-- In BIG EAST action today at
Boston College's Shea Field, the BC Women's Soccer team lost to
Villanova 1-0. With the loss the Eagles record moves to 8-6-2
on the season and finish with a 5-6-0 record in BIG EAST play,
while the Wildcats record also improves to 8-6-2 on the season
and 6-3-1 in the BIG EAST Conference.
Wildcat sophomore Lauren Sellers (Yardley, PA) scored the game
winner at the 78:35 mark of the second half. Assisting on the
play were senior Maura McGhee (Lincroft, NJ) and fellow
sophomore Kathy Minnich (Wilton, CT). Sellers beat BC freshman
goalie Courtney Schaeffer (South Huntington, NY) from 15 yards
out for the score.
On the day Schaeffer made four saves while her counterpart
Villanova junior goalie Jeanne Hennessy (Mahopac, NY) stopped
six shots enroute to the shutout.
Boston College's final regular season match will be held at
home against Ivy League power Brown on Wednesday, October 29 at
3 p.m.
