BC Women's Soccer Defeats Rutgers
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- In BIG EAST action today at Boston College's Shea Field, the BC Women's Soccer team defeated Rutgers 2-1. With the win the Eagles record moves to 8-5-2 on the season and 5-5 in the BIG EAST, while the Scarlet Knights record drops to 6-12-0 on the season (3-6-0 in the BIG EAST).
The Eagles' senior Anne Schneider (Denver, CO) took a pass from Muffin Rueckel (Westport, CT) and scored from the right side of the box, 20 yards out, at 19:39 of the first half to open the scoring. BC's second goal and game winner was scored at the 24:25 mark of the first half by sophomore Janice Collein (Garden City, NJ). Collein took a pass from junior Kiera McKeon (Broadview Heights, OH) from ten feet out and beat Rutgers goalie Kate Macfarlane (Monkton, MD) right to left.
Scarlet Knight freshman Jenica Bridges (Medford, NJ) closed out the scoring at 84:18 into the match. She took a pass from Uchenna Bright (Federal Way, WA) in front of a crowded BC net to beat goalie Courtney Schaeffer (South Huntington, NY).
On the day Schaeffer made seven saves and Macfarlane tallied four saves on eight BC shot attempts.
Boston College's next games will be held at home in the seasons final BIG EAST match against Villanova on Sunday, October 26 at noon, at Shea Field (Chestnut Hill, MA)
