BC Women's Soccer Shuts-Out Pittsburgh
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- In BIG EAST action today at Boston College's Shea Field, the BC Women's Soccer team defeated Pittsburgh 2-0. With the win the Eagles record moves to 7-4-1 on the season and 4-4 in the BIG EAST, while the Panthers record drops to 1-8-2 on the season (1-6 in the BIG EAST)
The Eagles' Mary Guarino '00 (Plantation, FL) scored her seventh goal of the season at the 1:59 mark. She took a pass from junior Megan Burns (Oxford, MI) at mid-field to break-away from the defense and beat Pitt goalie Nicole Basher '01 (Harrisburg, PA) one-on-one. Freshman Kerri Wright (Neptune, NJ) closed out the scoring with a header into the back of the Pitt net at 53:30, unassisted.
On the day Bashor made 11 saves while her replacement Ilene Ravich '00 (Lawndale, CA) contributed with four more. BC freshman goalie Courtney Schaeffer (South Huntington, NY) stopped three shots, enroute to her fifth shutout of the season and second this week.
Boston College's next games two games will be on the road, against Seton Hall on Saturday, October 18 at noon, and at New Hampshire in Durham on October 21 at 3 p.m. at Shea Field (Chestnut Hill, MA)
