Women's Soccer Loses To No. 20/12 Notre Dame, 3-1

Notre Dame scored three consecutive goals on the way to a 3-1 home victory over Boston College on Thursday night at Alumni Stadium in an ACC matchup. Boston College is now 8-8-1 and 4-6-1 in the ACC, while No. 20 Notre Dame improved to 10-5-1 and 6-4-2 in the conference.

This was the first game between BC and Notre Dame since the 2004 season. Boston College has never beaten the Irish on the road.

Notre Dame scored the first goal in the 44th minute of the match. Karin Simonian scored from 15 yards out. It was her fourth goal of the season. The Irish took a 2-0 lead in the 48th minute on a goal by Morgan Andrews. The third goal came in the 85th minute for a 3-0 lead.

Boston College scored in the 86th minute when senior Kate McCarthy headed in a cross off a free kick from Lauren Bernard. It was McCarthy's first goal of the season.

Notre Dame goalkeeper Kaela Little had two saves and improved to 6-4-1. Senior Jess Mickelson had five saves in goal for BC and is now 3-5-1.

The Irish had a 16-10 edge in shots. BC had three corner kicks in the match, while Notre Dame had two.

Boston College will finish up a four-game road trip on Sunday, October 27 in Maryland at 1 p.m. Notre Dame will head to South Carolina to play Clemson at 1 p.m.
