The Boston College women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season in a tough 1-0 match against ACC foe Miami on Thursday night. The No. 4 Eagles dropped to 8-1-3 overall and 1-1-2 in the ACC. Miami is now 7-3-3 overall and 3-1-1 in the ACC.
Miami gained the lead with about a minute to play in the game on a fluke goal. Freshman Brittney Steinbruch crossed the ball into the BC box and it deflected off a player and into the goal.
Eagles sophomore Kelly Henderson had a great chance in the second half when her shot hit the post. The Eagles offense was led by freshman Brooke Knowlton, who had four shots, while freshmen Chelsea Regan and Natalie Crutchfield each had two shots apiece.
Offensively, Boston College had 13 shots,while Miami had nine. Both teams had two corner kicks apiece.
Boston College goalkeeper junior Sarah Buonomo (8-1-3) had four saves, while Miami keeper Lauren McAdam had six saves, five in the first half.
The Eagles next match is on Sunday, October 14 at No. 15 Florida State at 1 p.m.
