The Boston College women's soccer team defeated Jacksonville, 1-0, on Friday night at Southern Oak Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. The Eagles are now 2-1-0 overall while Jacksonville is now 1-2.

Boston College will next play at North Florida on Sunday, August 31 at 1 p.m. Fans can view the game on asun.tv. The Eagles return to Boston next week and will play at Northeastern on Wed., Sept. 3 at 6 p.m.

Sophomore Meg MacDonald scored her second goal of the season in the 41st minute of play to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Senior Stephanie McCaffrey set up the goal for her second assist of the season.

The Eagles carried the play throughout the game as they held a 7-3 lead in shots in the first half and allowed just one shot by Jacksonville in the second half (12-4 edge in shots). Boston College also had a, 6-2, edge in corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper Alexandra Johnson made two saves and secured her first shutout of the season. She is now 2-1 and has a GAA of 1.00. Jacksonville's goalkeeper Sarah Sierra had seven saves in the game.

Team Notes

• Senior forward Stephanie McCaffrey now has 21 career assists, which places her eighth on the all-time list. She also moves into seventh on the all-time list in points with 75 in her career.

• Sophomore Meg MacDonald leads the team with two goals this season. A native of Glen Ridge, N.J., MacDonald played in 10 games last year but did not record a point. Her goal vs. Jacksonville was also her first career game-winning goal.

• Freshmen defenders Allyson Swaby and Madison Kenny started for the third straight game in the back.

• Midfielder Jana Jeffrey returned to action after missing the BU game with an ankle injury.

• Senior goalkeeper Alexandra Johnson has started and played all three games this season. She now has 19 career starts.
