Women's Soccer To Host No. 4 North Carolina On Sunday

Mike LaVigne enters his sixth season as an assistant coach at Boston College. He served as the head coach of the women's program from 1977-84. LaVigne started the Division I program at the Heights and took his team to the first two NCAA Women's Soccer Tournaments. He guided the team to top-10 national rankings from 1981-84.

LaVigne's impressive coaching career has taken him everywhere, from the community soccer ranks to professional competition. He served as an assistant coach for the Boston Renegades and shared general manager and assistant coach duties for the Rhode Island Renegades, both of the USISL. He has won several club championships, including state titles with the Mass Bay Strikers of the Premier Division Boys U16 and the Charles River United of the Premier Division Girls U18. On the high school level, LaVigne was the head of the Boston Latin girls varsity program from 1990-1992 and the Winsor School girls varsity program from 1996-2000.

LaVigne has also gained experience at the international level, serving as the Deputy Venue Director for the World Cup 1994 and the Venue Director for the New England Sports Museum Challenge Cup in 1991 and 1992.

LaVigne played his college career at College of the Holy Cross from 1969-73, where he earned All-New England honors in soccer and ice hockey. He graduated with a B.A. in History.
