Neel Bhattacharjee enters his third year as an assistant coach with the Boston College women's soccer program. Bhattacharjee (pronounced BAT-uh-CHARGE-ee) joined the Eagles after three seasons at George Washington University. Bhattacharjee works directly with the goalkeepers and serves as the recruiting coordinator for the program. He will also assist in team training and handle a number of administrative aspects for the program, including co-direct the Lady Eagles Soccer School, scouting, compliance, video analysis, and team travel. This past season at Boston College the team had a 0.90 goals against average on their way to the program's first-ever College Cup. In 2010 starting goalkeeper Jill Mastroianni started all 25 matches and earned nine shutouts with a save percentage of .800. She was named ACC All Tournament Team. She also was invited to participate with the U23 USA National Team. In 2006, Bhattacharjee served as the goalkeeper coach for the USA Under-21 Women's National Team during a competition in England and Scotland. Bhattacharjee holds a US Soccer Federation "A" License, along with a US Soccer Federation Goalkeeper License and NSCAA Goalkeeper Level I, II and III Diplomas. He is the head goalkeeper coach for the U15 Region I ODP program and traveled with the team on their Brazil tour in February 2011. Bhattacharjee has been involved with Region I ODP since 2006, having worked with Region IV ODP before that. He is also the Goalkeeper Director for the U15-U17 goalkeepers in the Scorpion Soccer Club. Bhattacharjee has worked with Dynasty Goalkeeping Camp, SoccerPlus Goalkeeper School, and Star Goalkeeper Academy. A native of Randolph, New Jersey, Bhattacharjee graduated from University of Maryland in 1998 as a double major and earned his master's degree from Texas State University in 2000. He completed doctoral coursework at Arizona State University. Bhattacharjee, his wife Merry and 1-year-old daughter Naiya reside in Watertown, MA. |
