SUN VALLEY, Id. -
The men's and women's ski teams finished their seasons at the USCSA National Championship in Sun Valley, Idaho. The weather could not have been more ideal with near perfect snow and injected conditions. At the end of the week, the combined men's finish was sixth out of twenty teams. The women finished eleventh overall.
The men's team had five athletes named to the USCSA Academic All-American team, including Dylan Roberts, Stephen Fiorella, Chris Burgart, Stacey Bolger, and Jimmy Campbell. The women had two team members, Kelly Burgart and Hillary Weber, who received the same recognition.
In terms of individual performances, Chris Burgart finished eleventh in giant slalom, which earned him a place on the Giant Slalom All-American team. Stephen Fiorella placed thirteenth overall in men's slalom, which was enough for a spot on the Slalom All-American team. Fiorella also had a strong enough finish in Giant Slalom to make the Combined All-American team.
On the women's side, Kelly Burgart led the team in the slalom race with a seventh place finish. Katie Cutting and Hillary Weber placed tenth and eleventh respectively in slalom. All three women made the Slalom All-American team while leading the lady Eagles to a second place finish in the slalom portion of the championship.
This year's National Championships was very competitive and the lady Eagles finished the season with solid results, but are excited to grow off this year's success next year.
