Women's Ski Team Takes Third Place in Nationals Slalom

Sunday River, Maine- Boston College's Women's Ski Team ended up on the podium with a third place finish in the Slalom at the 2010 USCSA National Championships held at Sunday River. Twenty-one teams competed in the Nationals following strong performances in the Regional races. BC's Senior Captain Perrie Finsand capped a great season by finishing seventh in the slalom. Junior Erica Reilly (16th) and Sophomore Laura Martini (17th) also had strong top twenty finishes to give BC the terrific team standing on Friday. The Eagles were the top finishers from the Eastern (ECSC) Conference, with Utah's Westminster College finishing first and Sierra Nevada College finishing second.
On Wednesday, the Women's team faced a long, difficult course and finished ninth of 21 teams in the Giant Slalom. Captain Finsand again paced the Eagles with 12th place finish out of 115 racers. Laura Martini also finished well, placing 19th, with Junior Erica Reilly finishing 70th. Westminster College and Sierra Nevada finished first and second in the Giant Slalom as well.
Based on her strong performances, Perrie Finsand was named second team All American in both Slalom and Giant Slalom categories.
In the combined results,the Eagles finished in a fifth place tie with Rocky Mountain College. Combined individual honors went to Perrie Finsand and Laura Martini,who both were awarded second team All American status.
