MT. CRANMORE, NH - The women's ski team continued last weekend's success by winning their first race of the season Friday and swept the weekend with a win on Saturday. The lady Eagles won both slalom races at the UCONN Carnival at Mt. Cranmore in New Hampshire. With the wins, the lady Eagles edged out both Colby-Sawyer College and Plymouth State University by three points for the lead in the division standings.

Day one of the meet was lead by sophomore Kelly Burgart, who finished fifth overall. Junior Laura Martini and senior captain Erica Reilly followed just behind Burgart in sixth and seventh respectively. Freshman Katie Cutting rounded out the scoring for the lady Eagles by following the trend of top ten finishes with a ninth place finish, while Cutting's second run time of 46.63 seconds was the third fastest run of the heat. The end of day one found the lady Eagles in a tie for first with Plymouth State University.

The lady Eagles finished day two of the Carnival in sole possession of first place. Erica Reilly finished with another impressive race and a sixth place finish. Sophomore Hillary Weber rebounded from day one with a very solid day two and a seventh place finish. Laura Martini finished in the top ten for the second day in a row by placing eighth. Kelly Burgart also was also able to slide into the top ten for second time in as many days by finishing tenth. Katie Cutting continued her second run domination with the third fastest time of run two for day two and an eleventh place finish overall for day two.

After the second race of the year, the lady Eagles are sitting on top of the division standings. They will try and continue their success at next weekend's Plymouth State University Carnival at Waterville Valley, New Hampshire.
