MT. SUNAPEE, Maine -
The women's ski team was fast out of the gates to start the season at the Colby-Sawyer Carnival in Mount Sunapee, Maine. The lady Eagles took third place overall at the race, which took place on January 7th and 8th. The women finished day one in third place of the very competitive MacConnell Division. Sophomore standout Hillary Weber led the team with a fourth place finish, which is even more impressive considering she returned to Mount Sunapee from a season ending broken leg sustained in the same event last year. Senior captain Erica Reilly had a very strong day one, finishing in eighth place. Sophomore Kelly Burgart and Freshman Katie Cutting finished twenty-two and twenty-four respectively to round off the women's team scoring.
The Eagles carried the momentum from day one into day two. They finished the day two in second place, led once again by Hillary Weber with a fifth place finish. Kelly Burgart had an impressive second day and was able to make the top ten taking eighth place. Erica Reilly also finished in the top ten for day two with a ninth place finish. Laura Martini was able to help the lady Eagles with her thirteenth place finish.
The women's ski team hopes to have continued success at their next race, the UCONN Carnival, January 14th and 15th at Cranmore Mountain.
