Rowing to Compete at Green Monster Regatta

Oct. 31, 2013

Chestnut Hill, Mass- The Boston College rowing team is set to compete in the Green Monster Regatta on Saturday Nov. 2, in Hanover, N.H.  The race is hosted annually by Dartmouth.

The women’s race will start at 12 p.m. and will be followed by the men’s race at 12:30 p.m.

This year’s competitors for the women include; Boston College, Dartmouth, University of Vermont, UMass, MIT, Northeastern, and MIT Lightweights.

The winner is determined not only by the fastest boat, but also by the combined time of each team’s A and B boats.

The traditional prize for the winners is a large bowl of ice cream which the Eagles have won last two years.

“This race is a lot of fun, because anything can happen with freshmen rowing. Last year’s results are no indication as to who is fast this year,” said assistant coach Amy Weatherby. “While we would like to put up the fastest time and win the ice cream, our goal is to show that we are a strong united team.”

The tentative starting order for the Women’s Race is:

Dartmouth A

Boston College A

Vermont A

UMass A

Northeastern A

MIT Lightweight A

Dartmouth B

Boston College B

Vermont B

UMass B

Northeastern B

MIT Lightweight B

MIT Composite

All teams will be rowing out of the Friends of Dartmouth Rowing Boathouse.
