Women's Rowing to Hold Open Tryout
Aug 28, 2013
Chestnut Hill, Mass.- -
Boston College Women's Rowing will hold a learn-to-row and open tryout to BC Students. All interested students are welcome to attend an informational meeting on Monday Sept. 2 at 3:30 p.m. in the Murray Room on the 4th Floor of the Yawkey Center (see above map), to learn more about rowing and the BC team.
The coaches expect to teach incoming students the basics, no rowing experience necessary to tryout.
"While we have excellent recruits every year, some of our best athletes did other sports in high school and never saw a boat before coming to BC," said assistant coach Amy Weatherby. "General athleticism and a hard working attitude help athletes that are new to the sport to become competitive with experienced rowers in a very short period of time."
The first practice will be held on Sept. 5 to help all new athletes prepare and understand what is expected of Boston College student-athletes. Practices will be held Monday to Saturday leading up to the three day tryout which will be held on Sept. 17, 18, & 19.
Any student interested in rowing should try to start on the paperwork required to participate in practices. More information about the team and required paperwork is available at:
