Rowing Earns Four Medals at Swiss National Regatta

Sarnen, Switzerland - The Boston College rowing team competed in the first of two overseas races on Saturday and Sunday at the Swiss National Regatta, which is the largest regatta in Switzerland with over 1,400 boats entered. The team raced in five different event categories, the Senior 8+, Senior 4-, Senior 2-, Under 23 2x, and Senior 4x.
The Eagles earned gold and silver medals in the Senior 8+ event Sunday. The day before, they finished second and third in the event.
"Most of the student-athletes raced two or three events on both days," assistant coach Amy Weatherby said. "The team improved its racing throughout the regatta and did some of its best racing on Sunday in the Senior 8+ event."
In the Senior 4- race, BC also raced two entries placing second and third on both Saturday and Sunday to earn silver and bronze medals.
Juniors Emma Metzger, Alyssa Rizzini, Ellen Burr and Katie Casebeer raced in different heats in the Senior 2- on Saturday. Burr and Casebeer finished in fourth place while Metzger and Rizzini finished in fifth, all advancing both crews to the level final. On Sunday, both crews nabbed top-five finishes as Metzger and Rizzini took second while Burrand Casebeer finished fifth.
BC raced two entries in the Under 23 Double. On Saturday, Stephanie Ragland and Victoria Greco finished fourth, one spot ahead of teammates senior Kaitlin Campbell and junior Chelsea Robin. On Sunday, the results were similar as Ragland/Greco finishing in fifth and Campbell/Robin sixth.
The Eagles ended both Saturday and Sunday racing with the Senior 4x. BC finished in fifth both days.
BC will train in Switzerland and England over the next week finishing its experience abroad at the Henley Women's Regatta on June 21-23 on the River Thames in Oxfordshire.
