Senior captain Erin Roche was named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) All-New England Region Second Team, as announced on Tuesday.
The CRCA awards and recognizes the outstanding performances of rowers and coxswains in five regions. Athletes nominated for this award must have competed in a varsity boat for at least 75 percent of their team’s races. Race results, erg scores, and teams’ regional finishes are all taken into account. To see the full list of CRCA 2012 Division I All-Region selections, click here.
In addition to Roche, six other Eagles were recognized by the CRCA. Junior political science major Lauren Beebe, sophomore nursing student Alexis Carriere, senior psychology and theology double-major Emily Charnowski, junior economics & political science double-major Sarah Loiselle, senior art history major Rachel Pettis and sophomore history major Stephanie Ragland each earned the distinction of 2012 Scholar-Athlete from the CRCA.
Athletes receiving this award must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher through the fall of 2011, must be in their second, third, or fourth year of eligibility, and must have been in an NCAA eligible boat for 75 percent of their spring races.
