CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.- The Boston College women's rowing team won medals in four events, earning 63 points good for a fourth place team finish at the Eastern Sprints on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J., this weekend. 

"This is the best team result BC has had at this race," said head coach Steve Fiske. "The team showed great depth and a lot of progress from previous years."  

The Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, and Varsity Four all qualified for the Grand Final by finishing in the top three during the morning heats.  The other events did not have preliminary heats due to number of entries.

BC won silver medals in the Varsity Four A with a time of 7:23.17.  Navy won the event, while BC finished ahead of Northeastern, Buffalo, Rutgers, and Boston University. Georgetown, MIT, and Columbia raced in the Petite Final. The Eagles took home a silver medal in the Varsity Four B, again behind Navy, ahead of Rutgers, Buffalo, and Georgetown. BC and Navy rowed a close race in the Varsity Four C, the Eagles boat came in second to Navy by less than a second.

The Eagles Second Varsity Eight won bronze medals with a time of 6:46.66, just behind Northeastern who finished with a time of 6:46.62. Columbia won the event, BU, Navy, and Georgetown finished 4th, 5th, and 6th.  Buffalo, MIT, Rutgers, and Holy Cross were 7th-10th in the Petite Final.  The Eagles Third Varsity Eight placed third with a time of 7:20.54 behind Boston rivals Northeastern, and BU. They finished substantially ahead of Rutgers, MIT, and Holy Cross. The Eagles Freshmen Eight also won bronze behind Navy, Buffalo, and ahead of BU.

BC finished 6th in the fastest event of the day, the Varsity Eight. Navy finished first followed by Columbia, Northeastern, Georgetown, and BU.  Buffalo, MIT, Holy Cross and Rutgers finished 7th-10th in the Petite Final.
