Rowing Prepares for the ACC Championship

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College rowing will compete at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C. on Saturday, April 21. BC will be represented by 32 student-athletes rowing in four events.
The Eagles will square off against crews from Duke, North Carolina and Miami for the second weekend in a row after seeing those schools at the Knecht Cup. BC will also see Clemson and defending ACC Champions Virginia for the first time this spring.
The Varsity Four will be the first crew to race for BC, beginning at 9 a.m. The stern pair, Stephanie Ragland and Rachel Pettis, are both veterans in this event, having competed in it last year. They are joined by the bow pair, sophomore Alexis Carriere and freshman Caroline Kirkwood, as well as freshman coxswain Aran Hubbell.
The Novice Eight will compete at 9:20 a.m. Coxswain Kate Votta leads this crew of freshmen including Chelsea Robin, Alyssa Rizzini, Grace Olscamp, Maclaine Sisco, Shannon Healey, Nicaela Chinnaswamy, Meg Bailey and Wylie Wilson.
The Second Varsity Eight is scheduled to race at 9:40 a.m. After falling short to Duke by slightly more than one second at the Knecht Cup, this crew will try to close the gap. Coxswain Lauren Beebe, and stern pair Victoria Goetz and Regina Hayburn, lead the young and talented crew including freshmen Maggie Hanlon, Kaitlin Campbell, Megan Clarke, Katie Casebeer and Rachel Hess, and sophomore Ellen Keenan.
The most competitive event, the Varsity Eight, starts at 10 a.m. Seniors Erin Roche and Emily Charnowski lead this crew with the help of freshman coxswain Kelly McElduff. Freshman Nicole Frederick, junior Jennifer Johnson, freshman Ellen Burr, junior Erica Jennings, freshman Emma Metzger and junior Sarah Loisellehave been fixtures on this crew for most of the season and hope to extend their season.
An overall team finish will be determined based on the results of each event.
