Rowing Nabs Bronze in the Club Four at Head of the Charles

Boston, Mass. - The Boston College rowing team competed in two events on Day One of the 47th Annual Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles placed third in the Club Four event and finished 16th out of 28 entries in the Club Eight. BC returned to action on Sunday for Day Two of the regatta, placing 28th out of 37 entries in the Championship Eight event.
BC's bronze medal in the Club Four marked the school's best result ever at the Head of the Charles. In the Club Four boat for Boston College were coxswain Aran Hubbell, stroke Nicole Frederick, 3-seat Emma Metzger, 2-seat Grace Olscamp and bow Caroline Kirkwood. This boat finished the course in a time of 20:04.80, behind Boston University and the Peterborough Rowing Club.
The Eagles' 16th-place finish in the Club Eight event was also an improvement from last year. BC completed the course in a time of 19:07.55. This boat was manned by coxswain Rebekah Straneva, stroke Victoria Goetz, 7-seat Alexis Carriere, 6-seat Ellen Keenan, 5-seat Erica Jennings, 4-seat Abigail Oliveira, 3-seat Caroline Mitton, 2-seat Katelyn Olsson and bow Karen Shu. The University of Tennessee took home gold in this event.
On Sunday, BC completed the Championship Eight event in a time of 17:26.62, good for 28th place. Participating in this event for Boston College were coxswain Lauren Beebe, stroke Alycia Da’Loia-Moore, 7-seat Jennifer Johnson, 6-seat Regina Hayburn, 5-seat Erin Roche, 4-seat Emily Charnowski, 3-seat Melissa Chavez, 2-seat Sarah Loiselle and bow Ailis Peplau
Boston College will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 30 when the team competes at the Three-Mile Chase hosted by Princeton.
