Rowing Wins Second, Third, and Fourth Varsity Eights at URI

Boston College won the second, third, and fourth varsity eight races in a regatta against Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and George Washington on the Narrow River in Kingston, R.I., on Saturday.
BC's second varsity eight started the race aggressively and led the whole way to win with a time of 7:39.01 over entries from URI (7:44.02), UMass (7:50.73), and GW (7:56.38).
The third varsity eight picked up BC's second win of the day taking an early lead and finishing with a time of 8:14.23 over URI (8:24.74) and UMass (8:37.48).
In the fourth varsity eight, BC led the full way down the course and won by the largest margin of the day. The Eagles (8:18.06) won over UMass (8:43.75).
The first varsity eight event provided one of the closest races of the day with eight seconds separating first from fourth. URI won with a time of 8:14.23 followed by crews from UMass (7:23.85), GW (7:26.16), BC (7:28.36).
The varsity four fought with URI for the lead through the first half of the race before URI triumphed with a time of 8:28.39 ahead of BC (8:32.86), UMass (8:33.64), and GW (8:40.12). BC's second varsity four finished second with a time of 8:53.17 - behind URI (8:47.74) and ahead of UMass (9:14.20). The varsity four C clocked in at 9:23.70 finishing second to URI (9:15.50).
Boston College next competes in a regatta against MIT and Wellesley on April 6 on the Charles River in Boston, Mass.
