The Boston College rowing program welcomes Brenda Balenger as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2011-12 season.
Balenger has coached rowers of all skill and age levels, including masters, junior boys, and adaptive rowers. She previously rowed with the Upper Valley Rowing Foundation for five years and is trained in both the sweep and sculling rowing technique.
Balenger, a native of Sunapee, N.H., is currently a fellow at the Institution for Rowing Leadership at Community Rowing Inc (CRI), as she works to earn an Advanced Certificate in Rowing Leadership. Balenger rows with the CRI Competitive Women's Team and is a coach for the General Sweeps Program at CRI, as well.
In 2010, she was the coach of Derryfield School's Novice Rowing Team in Manchester, N.H.
In 2007, Balenger co-founded the Lake Sunapee Rowing Club. She has been president of the club since 2009 and has coached there for four years.
Prior to 2011, Balenger spent 20 years working in the clinical research industry as a monitor for pharmaceutical trials.
Balenger currently resides in Boston, Mass.
