2001-02 (Indoor): Broke the school pole vault three times ... won the pole vault at the Yale Classic, clearing 10-4 ... broke the school record at the Husky Invitational with a vault of 10-6, then tied that mark at the BU and UNH tri-meets ... smashed that standard at the BIG EAST Championships, where she cleared the bar at 10-10, good for a fifth-place tie ... concluded the season at the All-New England Championships by shattering her own school record with a vault of 11-4 1/2, placing her in a tie for seventh in the event ... finished in a tie for 15th at the ECAC Championships with a height of 11-3 3/4. (Outdoor): Tied for third at the Husky Open by clearing 10-6 ... along with Megan Mara, established a new school record at the Dartmouth Tri-Meet, going over the bar at 11-6 1/4 ... took ninth at the BIG EAST Championships with a vault of 11-5 3/4 ... tied for 16th at ECACs, clearing the bar at 11-1 3/4.

Before BC: Set the Issaquah High School pole vault record with a mark of 11-3 ... also participated in gymnastics and diving ... was a state champion on the all-around beam in Washington ... member of District II championship gymnastics team ... qualified for districts in diving ... also participated in cheerleading while in high school.

Personal: Born on May 30, 1983 ... enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences as a political science major ... goal is to go to the Olympics in the pole vault as a representative of Japan ... Saki is the oldest of Naomi and Makoto Sugano's three children.
