Dec. 7, 2011

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College lacrosse program is expected to turn heads in 2012, as the team was recently ranked at No. 10 in the nation according to Inside Lacrosse's Preseason Top 20. The No. 10 ranking marks the Eagles' highest preseason ranking in program history.

"It's always nice for our program and our student-athletes to receive such recognition," head coach Bowen Holden said. "We, too, believe in the possibilities for 2012, but the only poll that we truly put stock in is the last one."

Prior to the 2011 season, the Eagles' earned a spot in the preseason rankings for the first time in the history of the program, tabbed at No. 17 in Inside Lacrosse's early Media Poll. BC soared as high as No. 9 during the season, and after making its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance, finished 2011 at No. 13.

Four other ACC teams are ranked in the top 20. Maryland sits at No 2, while North Carolina and Duke round out the top five at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Virginia is ranked eighth.

Several more outlets are expected to release preseason ranking in the coming months.
