Lacrosse Punches Ticket to NCAA Tournament

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's lacrosse team has earned an at-large bid into the 2013 NCAA Tournament field and will play Dartmouth in the first round on Friday at 4 p.m. at No. 4 seed Syracuse's SU Soccer Stadium.
The winner of the first round matchup will play the Orange on Sunday at 3 p.m. in SU's Soccer Stadium.
The Eagles have made one previous appearance in the NCAA Tournament. In 2011, BC lost to second-seeded Northwestern, 11-8, in a first-round matchup on the Wildcats' Lakeside Field in Evanston, Ill. BC carries four players on its roster that saw action in the game and retains nine players total from the 2011 roster. BC assistant coach Alex Frank scored a goal in the game for Northwestern.
First-year head coach Acacia Walker will participate in her first NCAA Tournament as a head coach but will take part in the tournament for the 11th time in the last 12 years as either a player or coach.
The Eagles hold a 0-11 all-time record against Dartmouth since 1992 with the last meeting between the two teams coming in 2007.
Boston College enters the tournament with a 12-7 record while Dartmouth currently holds a 10-7 mark.
The 2013 championship marks the first time that 26 teams will compete in the tournament. The top eight seeds will host first and second round games with the top six teams receiving byes. BC represents one of five ACC teams to make this year's field.
