Lacrosse To Play North Carolina in First Round of ACC Tournament

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The sixth-ranked Boston College lacrosse team will be the sixth seed in the 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference Lacrosse Championship and will take on third-seed North Carolina, ranked first in the nation, on Thursday, April 24, at 5 p.m. The Eagles (12-4, 3-4 ACC) fell to the Tarheels (12-3, 5-2 ACC) by just one goal in the regular-season matchup between the two teams.
Boston College is hosting the tournament for the second time in program history. The games will be played at Alumni Stadium.
Maryland (16-1, 6-1 ACC) holds the top seed in the tournament and will face eighth-seed Virginia Tech (7-9, 0-7 ACC) in the first game of the tournament on Thursday at 11 a.m.
Other quarterfinal matchups include second-seed Syracuse (15-1, 6-1 ACC) playing seventh-seed Notre Dame (9-7, 2-5 ACC) and fourth-seed Duke (9-6, 3-4 ACC) taking on fifth-seed Virginia (9-7, 3-4 ACC).
Duke and Virginia will meet following the Maryland-Virginia Tech game at approximately 1 p.m. The Notre Dame-Syracuse game is slated for a 3 p.m. start, while Boston College and North Carolina will close out quarterfinal action.
The four winners will meet in the semifinals on Friday, April 25 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and the ACC title game is set for Sunday, April 27 at 1 p.m.
All seven of the tournament games will be televised by the ACC’s Regional Sports Network (RSN).
