CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore Mikaela Rix has earned a spot on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List in the second of two rounds of additions, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced on Thursday.

Rix joins teammate and classmate Covie Stanwick on the list for the award given to the nation's top lacrosse player. Stanwick gained a spot on the initial watch list, released in February.

A native of Garden City, N.Y., Rix has totaled 32 goals, 21 ground balls, and 44 draw controls on the season. She ranks seventh in the ACC in goals per game (2.46), fifth in the conference in ground balls per game (1.62), and fifth in the league in draw controls per game (3.38).

Stanwick, a resident of Baltimore, Md., leads BC and ranks second in the ACC with 3.08 goals per game on 40 total goals. The Notre Dame Prep graduate paces the Eagles with 54 points and stands second in the conference with 4.15 points per game. She entered the week ranked 12th nationally in goals per game and 21st in the country in points per game.

Both players assumed pivotal roles in BC's recent victories over then-No. 9 Virginia on March 30 and over then-No. 6 Duke on April 6.

"The men's and women's selection committees continue to work diligently throughout the season to identify the top lacrosse players in the nation," said Jeff Harvey, chairman of the Tewaaraton Foundation. "We are proud to recognize these deserving watch list additions and look forward to naming this year's nominees later this month."

The Tewaaraton Foundation will narrow the watch list to 25 nominees on April 26 and will announce the award's five finalists on May 9. The Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will take place on May 30.

Boston College next plays at Vermont on Friday at 4 pm.
