NEWTON, Mass. - No. 18 Boston College lacrosse (10-8) held New Hampshire (5-11) to just one goal in the first half en route to an 11-6 victory in the teams' season finale on Tuesday. With the win, BC completed its third-consecutive winning season.
The Eagles controlled the pace of play for most of the contest, outdrawing the Wildcats, 13-6, and scooping up more ground balls, 23-19. BC also outshot UNH, 25-16.
Senior Sam Taylor led all scorers with four points (2 goals, 2 assists) in the last game of her collegiate career. Sophomores Moira Barry, Cali Ceglarski and Kelly McNelisrounded out the goal scorers for BC with one apiece.
The Eagles jumped out to an early, 2-0 lead with unassisted goals from Taylor and Blue, but UNH was able to get on the board to make it a one goal game with 21:44 to play in the first half. BC quickly regained the momentum, scoring four unanswered goals before the half expired to take a 5-1 advantage into the break.
BC struck first coming out of halftime, as Taylor found Blue open in front of the net. Laura Puccia retaliated for the Wildcats by converting on a free-position shot, making it a 6-2 game with 21:45 remaining.
Igoe found the back of the net to tally her 60th point of the season and spark the Eagles' second, 4-0 run of the game, putting BC on top, 10-2, with less than seven minutes to go.
UNH would not go silently, stringing together four consecutive goals to cut the BC buffer to four, but Taylor scored with five seconds remaining to seal an 11-6 victory for the Eagles.
