Women's Lacrosse Defeats Cornell

CHESTNUT HILL, Ma. - Boston College broke a seven game losing streak by defeating Cornell, 12-10 at Alumni Stadium on April 19. The Eagles were paced by senior Danielle Wood who had four goals and an assist.
BC jumped out to a quick two goal lead, only to relinquish it minutes later. Thereafter the game was back and forth throughout the first half, with Cornell eventually answering every goal the Eagles scored. The teams went into halftime tied at seven apiece.
After Cornell took its first lead on a goal by Kathy Knapp just 4:43 into the half, BC tied the score on a goal by sophomore Liza Kimball. After exchanging two goals each, Boston College went ahead for good on Wood's fourth goal with just 2:09 remaining. Sophomore Carrie Everett added an insurance goal 38 seconds later.
Everett had two goals in the game, as did senior Maggie Berkery. Senior Tina Margetis, sophomore Emily Santos and freshman Emily Ryan each added one goal.
For Cornell, Knapp had three goals. Seniors Cari Hills and Abigail Friedland and junior Marissa Perman each scored twice. Freshman Jen Chong had a goal and three assists.
Freshman Melissa Cole stopped 23 shots for the Eagles. Boston College is now 4-7.
