Lacrosse Tops Brown In Double Overtime, 9-8

The Boston College lacrosse team topped Brown University 9-8 in double overtime on Sunday afternoon in Providence, R.I.
The Eagles improve to 10-4 while Brown falls to 7-6.
Boston College and Brown traded goals early on as junior Kristin Igoe notched the opening goal at 21:14, freshman Brooke Blue responded at 16:46 (with and assist from Igoe) and senior Peyton Killeen with merely one second remaining in the half. The Eagles and Bears went into halftime with BC leading 3-2.
Igoe once again grabbed the first goal for the Eagles, but the Bears responded with two goals of their own to tie the game at four. The ball continued to bounce back and forth for both teams as sophomore Sam Taylor scored twice, junior Hannah Alley tallied one and Blue notched another to help BC tie the game at 8-8 and send it to overtime.
The two teams played out a scoreless first overtime and nearly made it through another when Taylor found Alley who was able to put the ball in the back of the net and give BC an exciting 9-8 win.
Junior goalie Sheila Serafino made 10 saves on the afternoon as Brown outshot BC 26-21.
Boston College also set history today by tying the all-time record for wins in a season.
Boston College will travel to College Park, Md. this week to compete in the 2010 ACC championships. The Eagles will take on Duke at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 22.
