March 26, 2014
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Covie Stanwick recorded two goals and three assists to lead the No. 4 lacrosse team to a 13-9 win at Harvard on Wednesday night at the Soldiers Field Lacrosse Stadium.
Stanwick's three assists were a game-high. Sophomore Sarah Mannelly scored four goals while graduate student Brooke Blue had three goals and an assist. Junior Mikaela Rix chipped in with three goals and had game highs with four ground balls and four draw controls. Junior Emily Mata made nine saves in goal.
Harvard started out the night by scoring the game's first three goals over the first 10-plus minutes. Mannelly got the Eagles on the board with her first goal at the 18:07 point of the first half. That started a run of eight unanswered goals for Boston College to close out the half. Rix secured her hat trick in that span.
The Crimson ended its drought by scoring 18 seconds into the second half, but BC responded with the next three goals to build an 11-4 lead. Stanwick had two assists and the third goal in the run. Harvard could not come back from that deficit as the Eagles maintained a 13-7 lead with 6:57 to go. Harvard scored the final two goals of the game.
The Eagles (8-2, 1-2 ACC) travel to Maryland on Saturday.
